India is the native place for multiple indigenous table grape varieties that are also used in wine production e.g. Arkavati, Arkashyam, Anab e’ shahi, etc. are high in demand and most common. The Bangalore Blue (Isabella) and Gulabi (Black Muscat) are a few popular non-native grapes varieties grown in India. India grows the Turkish Grape Sultana(Thompson seedless) on a very large scale. Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Chenin Blanc, and Chardonnay are some of the major imported grape varieties getting panted in India, that have strongly established their presence in the Indian wine industry. Muscat, Riesling, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache, and Merlot, etc. grape varieties are mainly under focus for experimental research.

Grapes are harvested when fully mature and sweet, ideally during the early hours of the day when the temperature is lowest. Grapes are delivered to the point of packing and precooled within three hours of harvest.
Sulphur pads are inserted when grapes are cooled to below 4°C. To avoid direct contact, these sulphur pads are separated from the grapes by a sheet of paper.
Use of pesticides are documented as per strict confirmation of world practices and standards. The training and demonstration sessions are arranged for growers to make them aware of the controlled and safe use of pesticides. Data on pesticides applied and water analysis from farmers are maintained with us and are available on request.
